LinkedIn, the business-oriented social platform owned by Microsoft, employs roughly 21,500 people worldwide. Recent hiring has outpaced departures by a few hundred roles, indicating modest net growth across the organization. Its broad staffing mix supports product innovation, marketing solutions, talent services, and a global member community.
Engineering is the largest discipline with about 6,500 employees, or close to one-third of total headcount. Sales and Support teams make up nearly 4,800 employees, reflecting the importance of revenue generation and customer success. Marketing and Product groups together account for more than 2,700 people, while Business Management, Human Resources, Finance & Administration, Operations, and IT collectively number just over 4,000. Hiring activity has been spread across these functions, and overall attrition remains in the single-digit percentage range.
LinkedIn’s workforce is geographically diverse, with more than half of employees based in ten primary hubs. San Francisco hosts the largest concentration at almost 3,800 staff, followed by New York City with just under 1,900 and Dublin with around 1,300. Additional U.S. offices in Sunnyvale, Chicago, San Jose, Omaha, and Mountain View, along with a sizable presence in Bengaluru and London, underscore the company’s global operating footprint. Many roles are also distributed across other domestic and international sites or are fully remote, providing flexibility while supporting users worldwide.
