Verkada, a cloud-based physical security provider, employs about 2,100 people worldwide. Over the last 12 months the company added 392 new team members while 398 employees departed, resulting in a virtually flat net headcount. The small change suggests Verkada is maintaining its current operating scale while selectively bringing in new talent.
Sales and Support is Verkada’s largest function with roughly 1,100 employees, accounting for just over half of the workforce and highlighting the importance of customer-facing roles in the security hardware market. Engineering follows with close to 500 professionals who design the company’s camera, access control, and environmental monitoring products. Corporate teams such as Marketing & Product, Human Resources, Business Management, and Finance & Administration provide the remaining talent base, each ranging from a few dozen to just over a hundred employees. Smaller groups in Operations, IT, Legal, and other specialty areas round out the staff, indicating a balanced structure that supports both product innovation and day-to-day operations.
The largest concentration of Verkada employees is in San Francisco, where roughly 675 people are based. Another 879 team members work remotely or in smaller hubs grouped under “Other,” showing a distributed approach to staffing. Outside headquarters, the company maintains meaningful footprints in Austin, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and New York, while international offices in London and Sydney give it coverage in EMEA and APAC. No single satellite site exceeds 8% of total headcount, signaling that Verkada’s talent is spread across multiple regions rather than centralized in one secondary office.
