3 checks · Unify Intent, UTM parameters and CRM
- Resolved the last 30 days of website visits to companies.
- Grouped visits by the UTM campaign on the session; sessions without one were kept apart.
- Checked each company against the ICP and the target account list in Salesforce.
Three campaigns brought 41 identified companies. Another 118 companies visited with no campaign source, and they stay unattributed.
- 41
- companies from campaigns
- 23

- 118

Companies only count for a campaign when the visit carried its UTM parameters. Visiting while a campaign ran is not a match.
YouThe LinkedIn campaign brought the most companies. Did it reach the accounts it was built for?
Mostly not. It brought volume, but only two of its 19 companies are on the target list, against six from the webinar.
- What it reached
- Eleven of the 19 are outside the ICP: agencies, students and two vendors. Most read the guide and left.
- What to check
- Whether the audience targeting matches the target list. The traffic is real; the companies are not the ones intended.
YouExport the matched and unattributed companies so I can add them to our campaign report.
The table is ready to download as a CSV, with a column for the UTM campaign and one that marks unattributed rows.
Set up
- CSV ready 159 rows: company, UTM campaign or unattributed, pages read, visit dates, ICP fit and target-list status.
This shows reach, not pipeline. For a recurring report, the same website events can be pulled through the Unify API.
Reading campaign reach, with and without Unify
Clicks say a campaign got traffic. Companies say whether it reached the accounts it was built for.
| Without Unify | |
|---|---|
| Campaign reports stop at clicks and sessions, with no company names | Each campaign lists the companies its visits resolved to |
| Nobody can tell whether the target accounts were among the visitors | Each company is checked against your ICP and target accounts |
| Visits with no campaign source get credited to whichever campaign ran that week | Only visits carrying the campaign's UTM parameters count for it; the rest stay unattributed |
| The data lives in a dashboard you cannot take into your own reporting | The table downloads as a CSV, and the same events are available through the Unify API |

What else you can ask for
The walkthrough is one path through this workflow. These are the turns people take most often.
How it changes by who you sell to
- Software
- Paid social and review-site campaigns bring very different visitors. Ask Unify to split each campaign's companies by your ICP segments, so a cheap click from a student is not counted next to a target account.
- Financial services
- Visits often resolve to a parent group rather than the entity you sell to. Ask for each company to be shown with the entity it resolved to, and check a few by hand before reading the totals.
- Professional services
- Campaigns here are often event invitations and newsletters. Ask for the companies that arrived from each send, and compare them against the target account list the campaign was built for.
- Manufacturing
- Traffic from a plant can resolve to a network provider instead of the company. Ask for unresolved and network-level visits to be listed separately, so they are not read as missing reach.
Connect what this workflow uses
Each guide covers the connection, what Unify reads and writes, and what to check before the first run.
Connect SalesforceAuthorize Salesforce in Unify, configure CRM field mappings, and choose when to enable writing.
Connect HubSpotConnect HubSpot to Unify, map Company and Person fields, and plan CRM exclusions and supported write-back.
Connect SegmentSend supported Segment events into Unify through Webhook (actions).
Questions about this workflow
Does company identification prove campaign attribution?
No. It shows which company a visit came from. The campaign comes from the UTM parameters on that visit, and a visit without them is listed as unattributed.
What can I export?
The table, as a CSV. Website events can also be pulled through the Unify API, with the company, the page, the referrer and the UTM parameters on each one.
What happens when the source is missing?
The visit stays in the list, under no campaign. It is not credited to whichever campaign was running at the time.
Does this measure meetings or revenue?
No. It shows which companies a campaign reached. To trace programs to meetings and pipeline, use the program measurement workflow.
