Intro to Google Workspace Setup

Setting up a Google Workspace allows you to send outbound emails from a professionally branded domain, significantly improving your deliverability and establishing a trustworthy sender reputation. Completing this setup in advance of your onboarding call with your Product Growth Strategist (PGS) ensures that your session can focus on strategic planning rather than basic infrastructure—letting you get more value from your time together. This guide walks you through the full setup process, from choosing a domain to preparing your billing, so that your email system is ready when it’s time to activate outbound campaigns.

To begin, visit workspace.google.com and click “Get Started.” You’ll be prompted to enter your business name, the number of employees in your organization, and your geographic region. Once you’ve completed those initial fields, click “Next” and provide your personal contact information, including your name and current email address. From here, you’ll move on to selecting a domain for your Google Workspace email.

You can either use an existing domain (as long as it’s not already associated with another Google Workspace account) or register a new one. For speed and simplicity, registering a new domain is generally recommended. When choosing your domain name, look for a clean variation of your brand—for example, if your company is called Omelette Infra, a domain like getomelette.com is a strong, recognizable option. Once you’ve selected the domain, Google will walk you through the registration process and automatically handle the DNS configuration for Workspace.

After your domain is locked in, you’ll create your actual Workspace account. This step includes entering your business address and setting up your first user, which includes choosing a username (e.g., hello@getomelette.com) and password. Once submitted, your core account setup is nearly complete and you’re ready to activate email functionality.

The final step is setting up billing—but here’s where you’ll pause. You’ll be asked to create a payments profile and add a credit card. Hold off on completing this step. Your Product Growth Strategist will provide the appropriate billing method during your onboarding call to ensure everything is configured correctly and aligned with your plan. Leaving this step incomplete ensures there are no mischarges and keeps the process streamlined when you finalize activation.

At this point, your Google Workspace is fully prepared. With the domain registered and account created, the only remaining task is completing billing with your PGS. Once that’s done, your team will be ready to send outbound emails from your new workspace address. This proactive setup shortens your ramp-up time and ensures you’re ready to launch campaigns immediately after onboarding.
