The Conference Speakers Play

The Conference Speakers Play is a high-leverage automation that helps you turn any upcoming event into a fully booked calendar—without tedious list-building or manual email outreach. Instead of combing through speaker bios and copy-pasting contact info, this play uses automated web scraping, enrichment, and Unify Plays to sequence both the speakers themselves and others at their companies.

Start by identifying the conference you’re attending and locating the list of speakers on the event site. Then use n8n, an open-source workflow automation tool, with the “AI-Powered Web Scraping with Gina” template. You’ll input the speaker list URL and configure the Information Extractor to pull key data: names, job titles, companies, and LinkedIn URLs. With Claude or another LLM, you can help generate the schema needed for accurate data structuring. Once done, push the scraped contacts into a Google Sheet, ready for export.

Download the Google Sheet as a CSV and upload it into Unify’s People tab. During the upload process, enable email enrichment so Unify can resolve contact details based on LinkedIn profiles or names. With fields mapped properly, you now have a clean list of conference speakers, enriched and ready for automation.

Now, build your first Unify Play. This one targets the speakers themselves. Use a Trigger node to start the Play when someone enters your newly created audience (e.g., “CS Summit Speakers”). From there, use persona routing to identify and match “Customer Success Executives” or other relevant roles. Route these speakers into a specialized executive invite sequence offering a personal coffee meeting with your CEO or founder. This adds an authentic, high-touch dimension to your pre-event outreach.

Next, launch a second Play to target others within the speaker companies. Use the same audience as your Trigger, then add a Prospecting node to identify additional contacts at those companies—like Customer Success Managers or Heads of Support. Use a Loop node to go through each contact individually and a Sequence node to enroll them into persona-matched follow-up emails. This expands your presence within each account while maintaining message relevance.

To personalize each touchpoint, define clean persona logic within Unify. Build personas like “Customer Success Leadership” and exclude junior roles to ensure you’re only reaching out to high-fit buyers. Each persona gets a tailored email sequence: executives get a coffee invite, while frontline managers receive more product-focused messaging aligned to their function.

This play works because it eliminates the two most painful parts of pre-event outbound: sourcing contact info and personalizing emails. You’re targeting people and companies who have already signaled interest by participating in the event—and doing it with full automation and strategic context. Whether it’s a major conference or a small meetup, you can repeat this play with minimal changes. Just swap out the speaker list URL, re-run the scraper, and launch the Play again.

The Conference Speakers Play ensures you walk into every event with meetings on the books, pipeline already in motion, and your outbound machine humming. Set it up once, run it whenever you travel, and never go into an event cold again. Ready for the next play?
