The HTML Inspector Play

Let’s say you want to reach out to companies that are already using a specific technology—like Segment—but manually inspecting each site’s HTML is tedious and time-consuming. In this play, I’ll show you how to use an AI agent inside Unify to automatically inspect the browser, detect installed tools like Segment, and then trigger a hyper-personalized outbound sequence.

We’ll be using Unify, our all-in-one outbound automation platform. With Unify, you can define intelligent agents, prospect automatically, and trigger custom outreach—all in one seamless workflow.

Start by building your AI agent. Head to the Agents tab, click New Agent, and name it something like “Does Company Use Segment?” You’ll set the record type to Company, and prompt the agent to inspect the HTML and browser dev tools for JavaScript snippets or network calls related to Segment. I used copy from Segment’s own documentation to help guide the agent’s inspection logic.

You’ll want this agent to return a simple true or false—true if Segment is detected on the site, false if it’s not. Run a few tests on companies where you already know the outcome to ensure it’s returning accurate results. The agent will simulate inspecting the site like a browser, checking script tags and network activity.

Once the agent is working, it’s time to build your play.

In the Plays section, click Create New Play and drop into the visual builder. Start with a trigger block set to fire when a company enters your territory list.

Then, drag in your AI Agent block and connect the Segment-checking agent. Set the logic so the play only continues if the agent returns true—meaning Segment is installed on the company’s site.

From there, add a prospecting block. Let’s say you want to reach out to both Heads of Marketing and Heads of Engineering. You can define both of these as personas in Unify’s persona builder by selecting the relevant job titles and excluding roles that don’t match your ICP. You can even layer in geography or seniority requirements.

Since each company might have multiple qualified people, insert a loop block to handle each person individually.

Lastly, add a sequencing block. This is where Unify does its magic. You’ll route each prospect into a fully customized sequence based on their persona. Your Head of Marketing persona gets a marketing-focused message. Your engineering persona gets an entirely different message tuned to their technical lens.

And that’s it. You now have a play that inspects websites in real-time for technology usage and automatically books meetings with the right persona, with messaging that’s relevant to what they actually care about.

This is a great play for anyone selling tools that complement or compete with specific technologies—like Segment, Mixpanel, or HubSpot.
