Intro to Lists
Welcome back to Unify University. In this module, we’re diving deep into Lists, one of the most important building blocks for structured prospecting and outbound execution inside Unify.
Lists give you a clean, controlled way to organize accounts and contacts and move from signal to action without bouncing between tools. Whether you're running a one-time campaign, manually prospecting high-value accounts, or powering an automated Play, Lists help you keep everything organized and actionable inside the platform.
A common question we get is: What’s the difference between a List and an Audience?
At a high level, Audiences are dynamic. They continuously update based on filters and criteria you define. Lists, on the other hand, are static. Once someone is added, they stay there unless you manually remove them or automate the removal. That makes Lists ideal for campaigns, events, hand-curated prospect pools, or trigger-based workflows where you want tighter control.
In this module, we’ll walk through exactly when to use a List versus an Audience and how to create, manage, and activate Lists across your outbound motion.
First, we’ll show you how to create Lists using criteria filters. For example, you might build a List of recent website visitors from the past three days. You can use filters to define that group, then convert it into a static List for action.
Next, we’ll cover manual List building directly from the People tab. This is perfect for creating “Hot Prospect” Lists as you identify strong-fit accounts or decision-makers in real time.
We’ll also walk through uploading CSV Lists, whether that’s conference attendees, event leads, or a sourced account list. You can upload emails, LinkedIn URLs, or name and domain combinations, and Unify will automatically enrich those contacts for you.
From there, we’ll show you how to take action on Lists. You can enroll List members directly into Sequences, route them by persona, or use List membership as a trigger to fire off a Play.
One of the most powerful features we’ll demonstrate is the “Add to List” node inside the Play Builder. This allows you to automatically add accounts or contacts to a List based on signals or triggers, giving you a constantly updating, structured view of who matters most.
By the end of this video, you’ll understand exactly how to structure Lists to support one-time campaigns, manual prospecting workflows, and fully automated outbound Plays.
Lists are about control and clarity. When used correctly, they eliminate the disconnect between identifying prospects and taking action on them.
Let’s dive in.
